Quality Control Inspector (Remote, USA)

Research Square Company, home to American Journal Experts (AJE) and Research Square, is dedicated to improving the way discoveries are shared by the international research community. Our growing editing services team includes scientists, former academics, and language experts who help researchers by ensuring that their ideas are communicated clearly and accurately.

We currently have an opportunity for a hardworking and self-motivated individual who loves solving problems and helping their colleagues succeed. Our Quality Control Inspector role supports our team by completing quality control steps for our author service products, primarily language editing.

Quality Control Inspectors can work remotely or from the Durham office. Remote or in-person training and attendance of functional meetings will be required. The posted position reflects a Monday to Friday week, with required availability from 9 AM to 5 PM (in your local time zone).

Job duties will include the following:

• Execute and advise on quality control strategies by monitoring English language quality in academic manuscripts to ensure that our output and systems are achieving RSC standards
• Monitor contractor quality and exercise judgment on adherence to RSC quality standards
• Utilize the latest technology supplied by RSC to support high-efficiency, target-quality edits
• Support a dynamic and evolving part of RSC operations

Job qualifications include the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in a field of science or learning, including the humanities, life and physical sciences, law, medicine, business, engineering, social sciences, and earth sciences; 
• Basic familiarity with academic publishing (e.g., manuscript preparation, journal submission) and writing (e.g., research articles, clinical reports, grant applications, literature reviews)
• 1 year experience in a quality control role
• Detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and adaptable to learning and implementing new software solutions
• Experience with Microsoft Word
• Strong writing and proofreading skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently to meet customer deadlines
• Excellent time management and the ability to handle occasional urgent tasks quickly and accurately

Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in language editing or proofreading.
