What we’ll expect from you once you’re here

We are looking for a mid- to senior-level Software Engineer to assist in the research into and development of a new Digital Services product line. You will be one of the first key hires for this new product line, so you will need to have strong technical and entrepreneurial skills in your approach to solving problems. Ideally, you will have experience at start-ups and early-stage companies. Our optimal candidate exhibits personal humility and strives to enable the success of their team in our collaborative and fast-moving work environment.

Research Square engineers and researchers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs—and, in turn, influence our product roadmap. On the Digital Services team, we expect engineers to come up with their own experiments by working closely and getting feedback from the Product team, Designers, and Data Scientists. We also rely on individual contributors to drive the technical roadmap around things like performance, security, and the design of new systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work together with Product Owners, Designers, and other Software Engineers to develop new products using our own artificial intelligence tools and resources.
  • Work with our product and design teams to build meaningful partner experiences for integrated third-party services/tools. 
  • Work with our engineering leadership to develop new products including browser extensions, plug-ins, and other inclusive and exclusive products that increase our brand’s reach.
  • Write new code that is reliable and maintainable.
  • Refactor existing code and fix defects.
  • Solve a variety of problems, applying pragmatism and best practices to all the problems you solve.
  • Create solutions that support researchers around the world.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Master’s in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related degree program or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of meaningful software engineering experience.

Experience

  • Experience developing and maintaining web applications
  • Experience writing both server-side and client-side code
  • Experience with Git and GitHub
  • Experience with SaaS
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Experience with front-end application frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
  • Experience with browser plugin development
  • Experience with Microsoft Word/Office plugin development
  • Experience with Domain-Driven Design

Working Arrangements

  • Relocation is not required as this position can be remote based. 
  • This is a US based position.
